Langley Oak Maintenance Pack – Wood Smoke
Product Details The furniture in our Langley Oak collection is a combination of beautiful solid oak and painted tulip wood. We know that with daily use, accidents are bound to happen, and you may need to fix some damage to the finish. The Langley Oak Maintenance Pack will help you keep your handcrafted furniture looking its best for many years to come. Finishes & Care All the solid oak tabletops and seats are made from our finest oak timbers, hand-oiled and finished. As the oil soaks into the oak it leaves it with a protective matte finish. The other areas of each piece of Langley Oak furniture are made in tulip wood and hand-painted with Earthborn Eggshell No.17. This leaves the painted wood with a beautiful silk sheen. The paint is durable, scuff-resistant, and washable. Despite being well protected, as with all natural wood furniture, we would strongly recommend that you protect it from heat and moisture, with the use of coasters, heat-protective mats, and other precautionary measures. Specifications Each pack includes: 1 tin of clear protective oil – approx. 125ml 1 tin of Earthborn Eggshell No.17 in your chosen colour – approx 750ml 1 wooden paint stirrer 1 piece of sandpaper 1 application cloth Instructions For Use Your maintenance kit will come with full instructions for use. But, as a simple guide, to give you an idea of what to expect when caring for your Langley Oak furniture, maintenance would involve… Solid Oak Lightly sand the surface area that is damaged or you wish to restore, using the sandpaper provided. Wipe over the item, ensuring that it is free from dust, then apply the first coat of oil, thinly and evenly along the wood (we recommend using a brush, not supplied). Spread well and wipe away any excess oil. Allow to dry, for approx 4-5 hours, with good ventilation. Lightly sand the surface, then wipe clean. Repeat oiling steps for the second coat. Painted Wood To fix any damage to the painted finish, lightly sand the affected area, you don’t need to remove all the old paint, just enough to help the new paint to adhere. Wipe away any excess dust. Next, using a brush, apply a coat of the fresh paint and allow it to dry. If necessary, apply a second coat and allow this to dry before use.
